you picked best buy.
thats a public company...so
- i would go to bestbuy.com and look for investor relations link.
best buy is in sales...so the investor link might be harder to find. (there should be a sitemap)
you might have to look at the very bottom or very top of the webpage for a small hard to find button.

- once you are there, you should be able to find annual reports with income statements included.

- then back in excel, make your income statements look like best buys...basically just start typing and formatting.
- i would guess along the top row would be years or months'
- along the 1st column would be sales and expenses and stuff
- maybe add some rows with easy to read titles
- some formulas would be sum() and average() annual sales. not much you can do with an income statement.

hope that helps.

maybe if you goto microsoft.com and look at some pre-made excel templates you will get more ideas.

I don't know who told that MS Office stuff should be on your computer already, but in case the manufacturer reps said that, you can check in both of two ways:

Click Start, Click All Programs, look at the list for MS Office or look for each of the programs in the MS Office suite.

Or, click My Computer, Add/Remove, and on the list look for these things.

If neither place shows any of the MS Office programs, then you don't have them.

In my humble opinion, full versions are ALWAYS better than upgrades. If you can find a copy of Microsoft Office XP (try Ebay) REMOVE the trial versions completely and do a clean install of Office.

And as far as should be on your computer, Windows XP or any of it's incarnations such as Media Center do not include the Office suite.

I used 2003 student and teacher edition in college, its fine....
As for where to get it? I just came from wal mart and the only version they had was the newer 2007 version....If you want the new one, try wal mart, or best buy....student and teacher edition will have everything you need.

If you want the older one "2003", you might have to buy it from ebay, thats where I got mine.....

Update: A free program may be fine for home use, but for school, I would stick with the microsoft version......

Hi,

Yes there is a student and teacher edition of MS Office. This DOES NOT come with Microsoft Windows and never has (unless you bought a computer with a Windows OS and Office Bundle).

Now, there is an alternative (although I have never used it !). There is a suite of Software called OpenOffice which is downloadable from here: http://www.openoffice.org/

which can read and write MS Office documents.

How cool is that. You may want to go take a look.

Hope this helps

If you have free software from Microsoft on your computer it is probably MSWorks. It has a word processor and spreadsheet program not sure about the others.
There is another program you can download for free that I found out about here called Openoffice.

If you just need to print the reports (and not provide actual spreadsheets), then AutoFilter might be a good solution. It is an incredibly easy but powerful feature that (if you don't know it already) you will be delighted to learn, even if it doesn't suit this particular task.

Select your table, go to:
> Data >Filter >AutoFilter
and that's it.

This will let you filter your list by any of the items in your table. To calculate grand totals and such, excluding the hidden rows, use Subtotal()

=SUBTOTAL (9, A1:A100)
(the "9" stands for SUM, there are several different operations it can do).

Alternatively, if this isn't the solution for you, what you are looking for is called a VB macro code. You need the code to copy certain rows, based on criteria, to other sheets. The way this particular question is titled, you might not get the attention from the VB guru's on this forum, so you might want to post a new question.

--------edit---------

The SUBTOTAL() formula can be used instead of the SUM() formula. It will ignore all rows hidden by filter.

Open up both workbooks. In the one that you want the linked data to appear type an = in that cell, then maximize the other workbook in which you want to link to and select that cell from your Source workbook.
Hit enter after selecting that cell and you should have the link back in your other workbook.

Or you could copy the original, go to the other workbook select paste special, then Paste link.

Whichever is easiest.
